Self-belief and motivation

Artists take a greater risk than most by expressing themselves in a visable/audible way to the general public. As such, they are open to more criticism and can often suffer from a lack of self-belief or demotivation. Worse still is the lot of the artist who is too scared to make the move into the public domain, for fear of rejection. Coaching with soulambition can help you build up your self-belief, confidence and resilience so that you can evaluate feedback in a constructive way, taking on that which helps you and rejecting that which does not. We can also help you stay motivated when your energies are flagging.

Why soulambition?

Soulambition owner and life coach Tracy Dempsey has been a musician and dancer since the age of 3. She toured France and Switzerland with the North East Ulster Schools Symphony Orchestra, playing clarinet and tenor sax, and is currently focusing on singing and songwriting, collaborating with local musicians. She's also played with the Motion Project, performed for Love Music, Hate Racism and recorded for the United Nations Development Fund for Women. A member of the Beat Carnival's samba band, she has collaborated on international music and arts projects with Monobloco, Grupo Bongar, Zinneke and Campagnia dello Zukkero (see coverage of the 3-city BelBoBru project here). She's compèred the Northern Ireland music showcase at MIDEM and was recently a guest of the New Music Seminar 2010 conference in NYC. She is currently developing new workshops for musicians to help them raise their game in the new music industry.

She's also passionately interested in dance (particularly flamenco!), film, modern art, literature and carnival arts. She is a co-host on a local radio show and has guested on various radio and television shows talking about personal development and the arts.

How and when would we have our coaching sessions?

You choose! Most clients choose to work with their coach for around 3 months, with a weekly one-hour session to review the week's progress, discuss any challenges or opportunities, and plan the goals for the following week. You may wish to avail of a shorter or a longer course – whatever will work best for you.

Coaching sessions are usually conducted by telephone (or via Skype), as it's more eco-friendly and saves on travel costs. Again, you can discuss your requirements with your coach and design the programme that will work best for you.
